Out and about with Charles


Feel like going on an unique walk through Mechelen?
This tour combines culture and Burgundian delight! You will see the most important historic buildings and monuments and can taste a delicious Mechelen beer up to three times.

Using this hiker’s guide of the Mechelen Tourist Office, you can go Out and about with Charles. Opt for a short (2 km) or a long walk (4 km). The short version takes you to the historic centre of Mechelen. The longer version allows you to explore the beguinage area as well, in addition to the historic centre.


The brochure amply describes the history of beer in Belgium and more specificly in the city of Mechelen. In addition, you are immersed in the world of Gouden Carolus, the city beer of the  brewery Het Anker. The brochure includes a hiker’s map, 3 beer tickets and a list of pubs where you can get a beer in exchange for the tickets.

This hiker’s guide (including 3 free drinks) is available for €12.50 at the Mechelen Tourist Office.
Three additional beer tickets can be purchased for €8.50.
